It sounds as though the program is most likely triggering a behavioral detection because the Ransomware Protection component in Malwarebytes monitors all processes very closely to observe their file activities, especially for any delete operations among other things due to the fact that one of the first things ransomware will do is delete the files it is encrypting to remove the unencrypted copies from the system.
